Science Access, iNclusion, and Diversity

sand_logo2.jpg

From the SAND website:

The Department of Biology and Marine Biology recognizes the importance of diversity within our department and University, within Wilmington, and in science. The SAND (Science Access, iNclusion, and Diversity) Committee was formed by the Department of Biology and Marine Biology to actively increase our department’s diversity and inclusivity, and support the department’s community of students, faculty, and staff; like sand, we will change. SAND is comprised of Biology and Marine Biology faculty and graduate students who are seeking to educate ourselves and our peers, create a more welcoming and supportive department, and contribute to a larger cultural shift on campus of increasing dialogue and action on systemic racism.

The Ushijima lab is proud to be part of the SAND Committee and its mission. We hope to create an inclusive and supportive lab group that follows the examples set by SAND.
